Why send your daughter to the Pitt Greenville Soccer Association Tryout on May 20-24, 2013?
The PGSA girls classic program has exploded over the past 5 years making it one of the most attractive clubs for girls soccer in North Carolina. Some of the accolades and championships earned by our girls teams include:
- 2 teams have played in the Region III Premier League against top flight competition from FL, GA, SC and NC (2013, 2011)
- including the fall 2013 season, 4 different teams will have played in the NC Premier League over the past four years)
- 1 team has played in the NC State Cup final (2012)
- 2 teams have played in the NC State Cup semi-finals (2012, 2011)
- 1 team was crowned President's Cup NC State Champion (2009)
- 2 teams have won the President's Cup Region III championship (2009, 2011)
- 1 team played in the National President's Cup Championships finishing third in the country (2009)
In addition to the tremendous worth ethic and dedication of the players, this track record of success is attributed to a number of factors.
First, the talent playing in the PGSA has expanded beyond the city limits of Greenville in recent years. Top flight players residing in towns as far as two hours from Greenville are now traveling to be part of the PGSA. With the most talented girls in the region coming together, the PGSA is in a much better position to compete with the larger, powerhouse clubs in the state and southeast.
Second, the traveling talent is combining with many established players in Pitt County who have come through our local recreational Future Stars league and improving PGSA U-10 Academy. In 2012, the Future Stars ranked as the 4th largest recreational program in the State with approximately 1100 kids participating (girls and boys). The commitment and emphasis on player development in these programs is now paying off as the kids age up to the classic level.
Third, PGSA players are now being consistently recruited by college programs. The PGSA girls class of 2013 includes 7 players from the U18 team who have committed to play at college programs this fall. The PGSA affords its players every opportunity to further their playing career by placing them in tournaments well attended by college coaches. For those not seeking to play college soccer, the high level tournaments still provide some of the best competition to test our teams. Over the past five years, the girls have played in many top flight tournaments including the Disney's Girls Showcase (FL), Disney's Junior Showcase (FL), CASL Girls College Showcase (NC), Jefferson Cup (VA), Score at the Shore Showcase (NC), WAGS (VA), TFC Friendlies (NC), FC Delco Player's Cup (PA), Baltimore March Mania (MD), Atlanta Cup (GA), Adidas Labor Day Shootout (NC), Columbia Invitational (MD), Spirit Kickoff Classic (PA) and the Richmond Columbus Day Invitational (VA). In 2012, the U18s played two college programs in pre-season friendlies, and this year’s rising U18 team will play Meredith College in an August friendly. These tournaments and events offer many opportunities "to be seen" by colleges.
Fourth, the development of the PGSA girls program has not been a spot occurrence every couple of years or limited to just 1 or 2 teams. The entire program has evolved. Here is a good example of the consistency of our teams at competitive levels in 2013:
- U11 girls (Green) - currently undefeated in the NC Open Division East
- U11 girls (White) - currently first in the NC Second Division East
- U12 girls - currently undefeated in the NC Second Division East
- U13 girls - currently third in the NC Open Division East
- U14 girls - currently in top half of the Region III Premier League
- U15 girls - will play in the NC Premier Division in the fall (rising U16 team)
- U17 girls - will play in the NC Premier Division in the fall (rising U18 team)
- U18 girls - just concluded their club careers with an undefeated and regular season championship in the NC Premier League
Finally, individual players are excelling in the North Carolina Olympic Development Program. In 2012, thirteen PGSA girls either attended the Region III ODP summer camp at the University of Montevallo in Alabama or played in an ODP sub-regional event (or both). Currently in 2013, twelve players are still members of the NC ODP pool. PGSA players are encouraged to attend the ODP tryouts to test their skill against the best talent from across the state. For the first time in our history in 2011, the PGSA sent two girls to the ODP national championships in Nevada as part of the North Carolina team representing Region III.
The highlights and accomplishments set forth above support our claim that the PGSA offers one of the best girls classic programs in the state. If you are considering the PGSA as your club for the fall 2013 season, please come to our tryout during the week of May 20. We believe you will be pleased with your choice.

| Fall 2012 Season In Review - PGSA Stars Continue to Shine
The coaches within the PGSA seek to develop character, discipline, self-worth and an excitement for the game in our players. Although failures and losses inevitably occur over the course of a player`s career, we believe a commitment to player development will ultimately lead to individual and team success. Given the quality of the coaching staff and the relatively low cost to play, the PGSA remains as one of the best choices to play club soccer in the East. Some of the PGSA classic team highlights during the Fall 2012 season follow.
We also want to recognize the PGSA U10 Academy and the recreational Future Stars program for developing our youngest players and instilling a love for the game. These leagues provide a frame work for kids to experiment and develop their skill. We hope to see them playing on a PGSA classic team for many years to come.
U11 Boys Stars
The U11s showed a lot of offensive promise scoring 32 goals in 9 games en route to a respectable 3-5-1 record in the Open Division East. The boys look to build upon their positive play during the Spring season.
U13 Boys Stars
Although finishing in the bottom half of the Open Division East, the boys were competitive in many games during the season and continue their hard work heading into next season.
U11 Girls Stars Green
Our new classic girls placed 3rd of 12 teams in the Open Division East with a 7-3-1 record. The team showed some explosive offensive play by scoring 29 goals over the course of the season. This is a young team with a bright future in the PGSA.
U11 Girls Stars White
Although our White team finished in the lower half of the 2nd Division East, the girls were more than a bit unlucky. The team lost two games by a single goal and led the league with 4 tie games. Defensively the team allowed the 3rd fewest goals and will look to turn some of those ties into wins next season.
U12 Girls Stars
The team finished a successful season by placing 4th of 9 teams in the 2nd Division East 1. The girls scored 26 goals and allowed only 13 en route to an impressive 5-2-1 record. This new team of improving players will look advance in the standings next season.
U13 Girls Stars
The PGSA challenged our U13s by placing them in the most competitive league offered in the East (Open Division) after coming off a successful Spring 2012 season. Although the team struggled in the win-loss column, the future remains bright with some talented girls on the roster.
U14 Girls Stars
The team finished another outstanding season with a 2nd place finish in the Premier Division (8-1-2 record). The U14s become only the 2nd team in PGSA history to earn promotion to the Region 3 Premier League and will face top opponents from the southeast during the Spring season.
U15 Girls Stars
The girls established themselves as a contender in the NC Premier Division with a 5-3-1 record and a 4th place finish. The team continues its ascent through the NCYSA leagues and looks to compete for the premier championship next season.
U16 Girls Stars
This newly formed team showed vast improvement with each game as the girls became more familiar playing with each other. The team finished 5th of 9 teams in 2nd Division East with a respectable 3-4-1 record.
U17 Girls Stars
The team showed remarkable consistency en route to a perfect 7-0-0 season and a 1st Division East regular season championship. In the Fall 2013 season, the girls will become the 4th different PGSA girls team to be promoted to Premier Division in the last 4 years.
U18 Girls Stars
The U18 girls finished their stellar club careers with the PGSA by winning the NC Premier Division. A stingy defense did not allow a single goal during the regular season. On the offensive end, the girls scored 27 goals en route to an undefeated 6-0-1 record.
